At Young Footballers Academy, we believe every girl and boy in Plymouth deserves the chance to reach their full potential on the football pitch — and off it.
YWFA was founded after recognising a gap in what Plymouth was offering its young players — particularly its girls. We set out to do something about it, building an academy from the ground up with the right coaches, the right venue, and the right environment for young players to genuinely develop.
Today we coach 35 girls every week, have helped over 100 players with their football development, and have successfully put girls forward for trials at Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United — with every single one getting in.
We’re officially partnered with Argyle Community Trust and affiliated with Torquay United FC. But more than the badges, we’re proud of the confidence, ability, and love for the game we help every young player build — week in, week out.

Girls Football Academy Plymouth
Plymouth’s first independent all-female football academy, catering exclusively to girls aged 8–14. We use a curriculum-based approach where we break football into manageable and teachable chunks. Our girls learn a specific aspect of football for a period of time before moving on to the next focus area — building real understanding and ability at every step.

Boys Football Academy Plymouth
The Young Lads Football Academy delivers structured football coaching for boys at Eggbuckland College, Plymouth. We follow the same proven curriculum model as our Girls Academy — focusing on specific areas of football over a set period so every player fully understands and develops what we’re teaching.
