Our Sessions
More Than Just Football
Every session is structured, high-intensity, and built around what young male players need to perform at their best.

Technical Development
We drill the fundamentals — shooting, passing, first touch, movement, and positioning. From striker training to elite performance sessions, every drill is purposeful and designed to build real ability that transfers to match day.

Tactical Awareness
Understanding the game is what separates good players from great ones. We work on reading the pitch, knowing when to press and when to hold, positional discipline, and making smart decisions under pressure.

Confidence & Mental Strength
Football is as much mental as it is physical. We talk about body language, how to use your voice on the pitch, how to communicate effectively with teammates, and how to back yourself when the game isn't going your way. We develop the whole player — not just the technical one.
Two Established Training Venues in Plymouth
Both venues offer quality facilities in a safe, consistent environment — giving every player the right setting to develop.

A Structured 6-Week Rolling Curriculum
Every YWFA training block follows a deliberate 6-week structure — the same proven approach we use across both academies.
For the first five sessions we focus on one specific area of football, building it progressively through carefully designed drills. The sixth session is our Games Night — where everything learned gets put into practice in a fun, competitive match environment. Structured enough to build real ability. Enjoyable enough to make sure every boy keeps coming back.
Sessions 1–5
Focused drills on one topic area, building progressively each week
Session 6
Games Night — all the drills in a fun, competitive match environment
Every 6 Weeks
New topic, new focus, continuous development
Beyond the Academy
We Also Come to You — Training Takeovers
As well as our weekly academy sessions, YWFA runs training takeovers where we go directly into grassroots teams for a 4-week block. We work alongside existing coaches and players on specific areas the team wants to develop. To date we have supported 4 grassroots teams across Plymouth — helping coaches and squads work on targeted improvements in a structured, professional environment.

I got into coaching in 2023 through a friend who had set up a club with a U12s girls team that needed a coach. I was thrown straight in at the deep end and have been going ever since. I'm now heading into my fourth full season as lead coach for Inter Plymouth's U12s girls team and have just completed my UEFA C coaching badge.
I have a real passion for the girls and women's game. In the short time I've been part of it I've seen so many successes — on and off the pitch — and I will always champion getting more girls into football. That's exactly why I joined YWFA. They offer further ways to get girls into football and act as a genuine pathway for more able players to be seen by bigger clubs. Football is always on my mind — whether I'm planning sessions, watching highlights, or reviewing previous games. My passion is to get as many players to fall in love with the beautiful game as possible, just as I did when I was their age.

Girls Academy Coach
I have been coaching since I was 15 where I started off with young children ages 3-7 , I quickly grew a love for coaching where I then went on a self funded my level one coaching to further build upon my coaching career . After successfully completing my level 1 I move into coaching within the junior premier league where I worked with young adults aged 11-14 . I then further developed my skills by enrolling as a referee in order to develop my knowledge on the smaller details of the game.
I have now been at the YFWA for just under a year and have loved every minute of it the opportunity to enter into a growing market within women's football is invaluable . The environment that has been created over the past year and a half is reflected upon the girls development with them all going from strength to strength. I'm looking forward to what is to come and can't wait for our squad to grow.
